Dr. Remi Piet is the founder and Senior Partner of Embellie Advisory, an investment advisory and boutique consultancy established in Doha (Qatar) in 2013 which facilitates investments and de-risks mining and energy projects across Africa, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. 

Remi manages the Embellie local teams in 20+ countries and works closely with a wide range of institutional investors and family offices in the GCC, assessing the risks impacting their investments and fostering the development of lasting social license to operate (social and entrepreneurial capacities within communities affected by mining and energy projects).  

Most recently, Embellie was successful in inking joint venture agreements between Saudi consortiums and mining companies, channeling investments in a range of exploration and mining companies across Africa and the Middle East. 

Prior to leading Embellie Advisory, Rémi held several positions within the Energy Finance division of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He also taught at various universities, including the University of Miami, HEC Paris, and Qatar University. 

Rémi has worked on projects in over 60 countries carrying counterparty risk assessments, designing investment schemes and reviewing work programs as well as ESG strategies, community supplier programs, and local content capacity-building initiatives.  

Dr. Remi Piet is a published author in the fields of energy security and local content development. He holds a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Miami, an MBA and a Master’s degree in International Development from Université Laval (Quebec, Canada), and a Master’s degree in Economics from Université Paris La Sorbonne.
