H.E Louis Watum Kabamba

H.E. Louis Watum Kabamba is the DRC’s Minister of Mines (appointed 8 Aug 2025). An industrial-chemistry engineer and former Minister of Industry & SMEs, he previously held senior roles at AngloGold Ashanti (Yatela), Moto Gold Mines, Randgold/Barrick (Kibali), and Ivanhoe Mines/Kamoa Copper, and served as President of the DRC Chamber of Mines. He is advancing consultative, investor-friendly policies to modernize governance, strengthen local value-addition, and clarify cobalt-sector rules.
