Dr Liberty Chipise is an accomplished Metallurgist with over 15 years of experience spanning the entire minerals value chain – from mineral processing to materials development. He currently heads up the Research and Development unit at MetSop, where he leads the development of flotation reagents and provides technical support across a range of mineral processing operations.
He holds a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, an MPhil in Engineering from the University of Botswana, and a BSc Honours in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe.Dr Chipise has been actively involved in metallurgical product development since 2009, applying advanced experimental design, process optimisation, and data-driven decision-making. He is known for his innovative and practical approach to developing fit-for-purpose solutions that drive value for both clients and the broader mining industry.
In addition to his technical leadership, Dr Chipise is passionate about youth development and academic growth. He contributes to the next generation of metallurgists by supervising master’s candidates and supporting young researchers in the field.
