Fernando Araya Burchard
Fernando Araya Burchard leads critical minerals research at S&P Global, overseeing analysis across the mining value chain and supporting the development of asset-level cost, supply and market intelligence products. He has more than 17 years of experience in metals and mining, spanning operational management, commodity research, data analytics, product development and business leadership. Before joining S&P Global Fernando served as Chief Operating Officer of Skarn Associates, leading the development and commercialisation of integrated data products covering asset-level costs, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions across 15 commodity value chains. Earlier in his career, Fernando held several leadership roles at Wood Mackenzie, including Head of Metals Research for EMEARC, Head of Strategy and Improvement, and Head of Data for Metals and Mining. He began his career at Codelco in Chile, where he managed large-scale copper refining and anode casting operations.
Fernando is based in London.
