A Birmingham University England Mechanical Engineering graduate, Sokwani started in the copper mining industry, gradually rising through the management ranks in mining replacement parts manufacture then soft commodity trading and finally in FMCG with Zambian Breweries. He then became the turnaround CEO of the regulatory Zambia Weights and Measures Agency (now Zambia Metrology Agency). Thereafter four years as a turnaround consultant and Board advisor saw him work in retail hire purchase, internet service provision, large scale cropping and being the start-up CEO of Zambia’s first Motorcycle and auto- rickshaw assembly franchise. Sokwani joined the Zambia Chamber of Mines in early 2018 and is immediate Past (2022-2025) President of the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (association of SADC chambers of mines).
