Libya to Highlight Its Mining Potential at African Mining Week 2026

Libya to Highlight Its Mining Potential at African Mining Week 2026
The Libyan National Mining Corporation will be represented at African Mining Week (AMW) 2026, taking place October 14–16 in Cape Town. The event provides a platform to introduce Libya’s mining sector to an international audience and engage with investors, mining companies and technical specialists.

Through the National Mining Companies Forum and a dedicated Libya Country Spotlight, the Corporation will share perspectives on the country’s mineral resources, the sector’s development priorities and areas where international expertise could contribute to further assessment and exploration.

Libya’s mineral potential extends beyond its established hydrocarbons industry. Areas such as Wadi Al-Shati, known for its iron ore occurrences, illustrate the scope for further geological investigation. Establishing the technical and commercial prospects of individual resources remains an important step in assessing future development opportunities.

Access to reliable geological information, technical capacity and supporting infrastructure will be central to these discussions. The Corporation’s participation offers an opportunity to exchange experience with other African mining institutions and better understand the interests and requirements of potential partners.

The engagement at AMW 2026 will focus on presenting Libya’s mineral potential and exploring areas of mutual interest. Any specific proposals arising from these discussions would be considered on their merits, subject to further evaluation and the relevant approvals.
