Botswana Hits 97% Mineral Mapping Coverage
Botswana has completed 97% of its national mineral mapping, a milestone that strengthens its appeal to global mining investors, according to Naledi Mining Services, a subsidiary of diamond producer Debswana.

In an interview at African Mining Week 2025, Bokang Thitoyamore, CEO of Naledi Mining Services, said the geophysical coverage de-risks investment in Botswana by guiding exploration while assuring return on investment to financiers.

“In terms of prospects, we have achieved 97% geophysical coverage, with the remaining three percent being security-sensitive areas,” said Thitoyamore, adding, “We have robust data, strong governance and sound policies that create a solid foundation for good investments.”

Beyond mineral development, Naledi Mining Services is promoting investment and partnerships through skills development and technology innovation. Its Naledi Mining Talent Bank Initiative seeks to upskill the workforce with next-generation industry capabilities.

“We are advancing collaborations in skills and technology, for example, using 3D printing for parts and engineering and upskilling in EPC. We are a nation already strong in production, but our goal is to enhance that capacity.”

Naledi Mining Services is also driving the Cut 9 initiative, a strategic project aimed at extending diamond production at the Jwaneng Mine.
