Artisanal and small-scale gold mining plays a significant role in the development of many African economies, however, the prevalence of illegal mining means that communities often do not fully benefit from production. This panel will explore initiatives to formalise ASGM, combat illegal mining, and ensure that both communities and countries derive sustainable benefits from mineral production.
